Fly Fishing in Stanford

Fly Fishing in Stanford – It’s a Rainbow Wopper Dad! \

    By Philippa Castle

Just outside Stanford, on the road to Salmonsdam Nature Reserve, you’ll find a dam with a view at “Vaalvlei”, stocked with Rainbow Trout for the budding enthusiast to practice their skills and learn to master the art of fly-fishing.

Recently, one of those enthusiastic amateurs (name withheld due to embarrassment factor) and under the expert tuition of Peter Ground, who came out for an afternoon’s fishing and relaxation with his family, managed to hook not only his first Rainbow Trout, but 2 bushes out behind himself and an ear lobe!  Didn’t you hear?  Flies are all the rage now in the body piercing world!

Owners of Vaalvlei, Naas and Elsabe de Villiers, hail from the Porterville region and bring to Stanford, amongst many other things, their extensive knowledge of frogs & years of experience with Bonsai plants, which “are now growing exceptionally well in the Stanford area.  They are offering locals and tourists alike, private fishing for the day on their farm, at R100 per person for two trout, no catch and release is permitted.  Their entrance is opposite the gates of Oak Grove Farm self-catering accommodation.

Rainbow Trout - Pan fry it, bake it, braai it, grill it or smoke it, either way you’ll enjoy it… it’s delicious!

MamaSilver, you should renew your relationship with a little Laughter

Smile! They say laughter is the best medicine, and it could be just what you and your sweetie need to rekindle your fun-filled romance. There's nothing like some good old-fashioned fun to take you back to those special times when you and your sweetheart first met.

All you two jokesters need to get the party started is a little private time. Spend an evening laughing it up at a comedy club, hit an amusement park, or head to a carnival and bring out your inner child. Once you've brought back the laughter, the good times are sure to keep rolling!

Big laughs call for a big smile.

The Happiness Test

Seven Secrets to a Happy Life

MamaSilver, you're happier than 88 percent of the other people who took Tickle's Happiness Test.

How do Tickle's experts know this? Because they measured your overall happiness level in relation to other test takers. To do this, they examined your attitudes and behaviours in the seven proven areas of life that are known to determine your happiness: Contentment, Confidence, Gratitude, Personal Growth, Cheerfulness, Relationships, and Optimism.

For example, your test results show that your level of gratitude is one of the things that helps you to feel happier overall. This means that for the most part you have a strong sense of appreciation for life's blessings. You probably also tend to view life as deep and rich with meaning. By regularly reflecting on the good around you or using prayer, you are the kind of person who can cultivate a continuous sense of thankfulness for the whole experience of living.

While your gratitude has a positive impact on how happy you are, it's still not the biggest factor that affects your overall happiness. Want to know which area of your life makes you the happiest?

What's Behind Your Emotions?

Why You Feel the Way You Do

MamaSilver, your emotions are triggered by your underlying belief in Compassion

In other words, your uncompromisingly compassionate nature directly affects how, and how often, you experience certain feelings.

For example, your test results indicate that you're most fulfilled when you can lend a helping hand to those who really need it. That factor is directly related to your fundamental belief in compassion and the range of emotions it triggers.

Based on your belief in compassion, where do you rank in the emotional landscape? Which of your emotions dominate your life? And how can you learn to control your emotions?

The Religion Test

Find the Faith That Fits Your Beliefs

MamaSilver, your belief system is best suited to religions that value solitary rituals

How do we know? While you were taking this test, we compared your religious beliefs against 10 of the world's most common religions. Your score shows that you share core beliefs with a religion that encourages highly personal expressions of spirituality.

You are attracted to a religion that encompasses a huge diversity of beliefs and a highly personal relationship with nature and its cycles. You are attracted to spiritual groups that are composed of people who primarily worship in solitude, creating rituals of personal significance in an expression of their own highly individual spirituality.

The Chakra Test

Understanding the Energy Centers of Your Body

MamaSilver, your most positive energy is flowing from your First Chakra

This chakra is located at the base of your spine and is usually called the root or base chakra. The first chakra represents evolutionary life force and is associated with both physical energy and overall vitality. In your case, this chakra appears to be clear and unblocked so that positive energy can flow from it freely. Radiating positive energy from your first chakra indicates that you've cultivated higher wisdom concerning important life lessons associated with this energy center. You likely experience a solid feeling of safety and security in your day-to-day life. You seem to know on a deep level that those you love are truly there for you. Having strong first chakra energy means that you aren't apt to be as swayed by life's small ups and downs as many people are. Your positivity in this area also shows that you generally feel grounded and understand that your life's foundation is solid.

Why is it when we talk to God we're said to be praying but when God talks to us we're schizophrenic?
